Configure policies
There are two methods for configuring policy settings:
•Use built-in policies (recommended)
•Manually configure each policy
Use built-in policies
ESET PROTECT On-Prem and ESET PROTECT come with built-in policies. We recommend applying policies for Management Agents, Endpoint products, and Server security products.
1.Open Web Console in your web browser and log in.
2.In the Computers section, click the gear icon next to your MSP group, and select Manage Policies.
3.In the Policy application order window, click Add policy.
4.Select the following policies:
Policy Product |
Policy Name |
Description of the policy |
---|---|---|
ESET Management Agent |
Application reporting |
ESET Management Agent will report all installed applications (also non-ESET). A list of applications is available in the Software section of computer Details. |
ESET Endpoint for Windows |
Antivirus -Balanced |
The security product will use the recommended balanced settings for most setups. It enables Real-time file system protection, heuristics, and numerous other features. |
ESET Endpoint for Windows |
Visibility - Invisible mode |
The security product on the client machine will have a "disabled" notification, alerts, graphical user interface, and integration to the context menu. |
ESET Server/File Security for Microsoft Windows Server (V6+) |
Antivirus - maximum security |
The security product uses advanced heuristics, LiveGrid, and an Automatic device scan after connection. It enables the detection of potentially unsafe and unwanted applications. |
ESET Server/File Security for Microsoft Windows Server (V6+) |
Visibility - Silent mode |
Suitable for multiuser servers, for example, Terminal Services. Only Admin can run GUI. Notification and alerts are not shown to other users. |
5.Click OK > Close in the Policy application order window.
The selected policies are applied to the MSP group. Each device in the group (and each child group) is subject to those policies.
After you apply the necessary policies, deploy the ESET Management Agent for MSPs.
Manually configure each policy
