Deploy ESET Management Agents
You can install the ESET Management Agent locally or remotely. The Cloud and on-premises console versions have different deployment options.
Agent deployment options for ESET PROTECT (on-premises)
•Local Deployment:
oAgent Live Installer (recommended for small environments): Client computers receive a pre-configured Live Installer script from the ESET PROTECT Server in the form of a batch (.bat) file. The administrator or user runs the batch file to download and install the ESET Management Agent. We suggest this method for small to medium-sized networks.
oAll-in-one installer (Windows only): Download and install the ESET Management Agent and your ESET security product in the same package.
oAgent download from the ESET website: Manually download the ESET Management Agent on your client computer and select Server-assisted.
•Remote Deployment:
oGPO or SCCM for deployment: Distribute the ESET Management Agent for enterprise environments or environments with many client computers.
oDeployment tool (recommended for large networks): Use this method to distribute the ESET Management Agent and ESET products to client computers. This method enables you to use custom installers. The ESET Remote Deployment Tool deploys the ESET Management Agent to client computers with Microsoft Windows operating systems.
oServer Task - Agent Deployment: An Agent Deployment task installs the ESET Management Agent on target computers (sequentially). As a result, running the Agent Deployment task on many client computers can take a long time to complete. Administrator credentials are required for the target computers to run the task.
Agent deployment options for ESET PROTECT Cloud
•Local Deployment:
oAgent Installer (recommended for small environments): Client computers receive a pre-configured Installer from the ESET PROTECT Cloud. The administrator or user runs the file installations for the ESET Management Agent. We suggest this method for small to medium-sized networks.
•Remote Deployment:
oUse GPO or SCCM for deployment: Distribute the ESET Management Agent for enterprise environments or environments with many client computers.
oDeployment tool (recommended for large networks): Use this method to distribute the ESET Management Agent and ESET products to client computers. This method enables you to use custom installers. The ESET Remote Deployment Tool deploys the ESET Management Agent to client computers with Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Separate deployment of ESET security products
If you do not deploy ESET security products with ESET Management Agents, you can deploy ESET products using the Installation task.
