This page is designed to help you easily set up your router with the VPN configuration you need. To keep things simple and clear, the instructions are divided into expandable sections.

The first section guides you through the basic setup steps to complete before adding any VPN configuration. The second section shows you how to set up a WireGuard client on your router, from importing the configuration to activating it. The third section provides a step-by-step guide for applying an OpenVPN configuration.

Initial router setup

1.Verify that the Wi-Fi router is connected correctly (the Ethernet cable is connected to WAN port) and the power button is turned on.

2.Connect a device to the router either with an Ethernet cable or by finding the default Wi-Fi name (SSID). The router's default network settings, including the SSID and password, are usually displayed on the product label located on the back of the router.

For example, WiFi SSID: TP-Link_A51F.

3.On your device, open a browser and visit http://tplinkwifi.net or type 192.168.0.1 into the address bar to log in to your router.

4.Log in with your TP-Link ID and follow the steps below to complete the setup and connect to the internet:

If you do not have an account, create one first.

a.Select your time zone.

b.Select the internet connection type. If you are not sure, click AUTO DETECT or contact your internet service provider (ISP).

c.Set the MAC address of your router.

d.In the next step, you can customize your wireless network name (SSID) and password.

e.Wait for the router to test the internet connection.

f.In the next step, you can set the update time and allow automatic update to the latest firmware of your router.

5.You can now connect your devices to the internet.

Apply WireGuard configuration in your TP-Link router

1.Verify that your TP-Link router supports the WireGuard protocol.

2.On your device, open a browser and visit http://tplinkwifi.net or type 192.168.0.1 into the address bar to log in to your router.

3.Log in with your TP-Link ID or the password you set for the router.

4.Click the Advanced tab on the top.

5.Click the VPN Client, then enable the VPN Client option and click SAVE.

6.In the Server List section, click Add to create a new profile.

7.Enter the following information:

a.Description—Specify a description for the VPN profile.

b.VPN Type—Choose WireGuard.

8.Click Browse to upload the .conf file you downloaded, then click Save.

9.You will see the uploaded VPN profile in the Server List section.

10.Check and enable the WireGuard profile in the Server List.

11.Scroll down to the Device List section and click Add. You can add devices that will use the VPN connection.

Apply OpenVPN configuration in your TP-Link router

1.On your device, open any browser and type 192.168.0.1 or http://tplinkwifi.net into the address bar to log in to your router.

2.Log in with your TP-Link ID or the password you set for the router.

3.Click the Advanced tab on the top.

4.Click the VPN Client, then enable the VPN Client option.

5.In the Server List section, and click Add to add a new profile.

6.Type the following information:

a.Description—Specify a description for the VPN profile.

b.VPN Type—Choose OpenVPN.

c.Username and Password—Use the credentials provided in step 6 of the Download configuration.

7.Click Browse to upload the .ovpn file you downloaded, then click Save.

8.In the Server List section, check and enable the OpenVPN profile.

9.Scroll down to the Device List section, and click Add. You can add the devices that will use the VPN connection.
