Onboarding
After ESET Cyber Security installation, the Onboarding wizard appears—a set of screens to guide you through recommended and mandatory steps for a fully functional ESET Cyber Security.
1.Enable Recommended Protection Settings, select your preferred options and click Continue. For more information about ESET LiveGrid® or Potentially Unwanted Applications, visit our Glossary.
2.Mandatory step: Component installation. Choose either Default installation or a Custom installation where you select which components should be installed.
3.The wizard prompts you to activate ESET Cyber Security. You can find multiple activation options in the Activation chapter.
4.Mandatory step: Enable ESET System Extensions.
5.Mandatory step: Allow Proxy Configuration. Click Allow in the alert window.
6.An ESET Cyber Security alert might show up requesting to access data from other apps, select Allow.
7.Mandatory step: Allow ESET Network Access Protection. Click Allow in the alert window.
8.Mandatory step: Grant ESET Cyber Security Full Disk Access.
9.Alert window might appear stating that Your device is connecting to a new network, specify if the network you are connected to is Private or Public. More information about network types.
10.In the last step you Allow notifications. Click Options and Allow on the system notification displayed in the upper right corner of the screen, or open System Settings, go to Notifications, select ESET Cyber Security and turn the Allow Notifications toggle on. We recommend you allow notifications to stay informed of any detected threats to your system.
Skipping the ESET Cyber Security onboarding wizard When you click Set Up Later, you can skip the mandatory setup, but be aware that your protection will only be partially functional. |
Restarting the onboarding wizard Open Finder > Applications > Control+click (or right-click) the ESET Cyber Security icon > select Show Package Contents from the shortcut menu > open Contents > open Helpers > Onboarding. You can also set up the mandatory security settings manually by following the chapters Allow system extensions and Allow Full disk access. |
After installing ESET Cyber Security, perform a computer scan to check for malicious code. From the main program window, click Scan > Scan now. For more information see On-demand computer scan.
