Settings
Use Settings in the ESET Secure Authentication mobile app to protect access to the app, manage sign-in approvals, and enable backup/restore scenarios.
To open the Settings, tap the settings icon > tap Settings.
The following settings are available:
PIN authentication
Enable the toggle to create and confirm your PIN (recommended).
Several settings (for example, biometrics and backup) are available only when the app is PIN-protected. |
Ensure you keep your PIN safe. If you forget it, you will need to reset the app settings. |
Change PIN code
Setting a PIN code can protect the mobile app from unauthorized access.
To update the PIN you use to unlock the ESET Secure Authentication mobile app, type your current PIN > Create and confirm a new PIN.
If you forgot your PIN, tap Forgot PIN on the PIN screen to reset the app (this removes accounts and requires re-enrollment). |
Android smart watch or Apple Watch You can manage Push authentication requests on Android or iOS smart watches. If the app is PIN-protected, the message Approve on phone is displayed when a push notification is generated. |
PIN code change after login with an incorrect PIN code The PIN-protected mobile app allows to log in using an incorrect PIN code to protect the correct PIN code from brute-force attacks. After logging in with an incorrect PIN code, no One-Time Password (OTP) will work. After entering several wrong One-Time Passwords, the 2FA of the user account (which the mobile app belongs to) will be locked. If you log into the mobile app using an incorrect PIN and then change the PIN to a new one, all the tokens included in the mobile app will become unusable. There is no way to repair such tokens—the only solution is to re-add tokens to the mobile app. We recommend that you try an OTP before changing your PIN code—if the OTP works, it is safe to change the PIN code. |
Use biometrics
Enable the toggle to unlock the app using your device's biometrics (fingerprint or face recognition) to access the mobile app faster.
Requirements:
•PIN authentication must be enabled in the app.
•Biometric authentication must be configured in your device settings.
Cloud backup
Enable the toggle to support device switch and backup using platform-native backup mechanisms (for example, iCloud backup/restore on iOS and Google Drive backup/restore on Android).
Require approval for new IPs
Enable the toggle to require approval for push logins from new locations:
•When PIN protection is enabled, this option is enabled by default.
•If the app is managed by ESET Secure Authentication or ESET Secure Authentication On-Prem, your administrator can require this option for your account (it may appear even if you turned it off).
Delete trusted locations
Remove locations (IPs) that were previously trusted for push logins.
