Android Device Switch and Backup
ESET Secure Authentication mobile app supports the following Android scenarios for device switch and backup:
•Google Drive Backup/Restore—Cloud-based backup and recovery of app data.
•Vendor-Specific Mechanisms—Tools like Samsung Smart Switch may work, though they have not been explicitly tested.
Requirements
Device Switch and Backup is available for Android only when the app is PIN-protected. |
To enable the ESET Secure Authentication mobile app backup and restore feature on Android, users must configure the following settings:
•Enable Google Backup: On your mobile device, navigate to Settings > Google > All Services > Backup >select the Other device data check box > tap Confirm.
•Enable ESET Secure Authentication mobile app data backup to cloud: In the ESET Secure Authentication mobile app, tap the menu icon > Settings > enable Cloud Backup to include app data in the backup.
Ensure to enable both backup settings listed above on the current device before restoring the data on the new device. Without proper backup, you will not be able to restore the data in the ESET Secure Authentication mobile app on the new device, which may result in losing access to the online accounts accessed using the ESET Secure Authentication mobile app. |
Restore Process
Set up the new device and select to restore from a Google Drive Backup during setup.
Launch ESET Secure Authentication mobile app, which automatically restores authentication data from the filesystem backup in the Google Drive Backup. The app PIN is required.
