Overview and getting started
ESET Online Scanner is an easy-to-use free tool that can run alongside any existing antivirus software. It supports regular and automatic monthly checks for infections and suspicious applications.

Getting started
1.Download ESET Online Scanner from the ESET website by clicking the One-time scan button.
2.Double-click the .exe file you downloaded to run the application.
3.Select the application language.
4.Click Get started and confirm the consent prompt in the User Access Control window.
5.In the Terms of Use screen, click Accept if you agree to the Terms of Use. After accepting the Terms of Use, the shortcut for ESET Online Scanner is created on the Desktop.
6.Select whether to join the Customer Experience Improvement Program and whether to enable the Detection feedback system. Click Continue.
•Full scan—an in-depth inspection of the entire computer. Depending on how much data is stored, it can take several hours. A full scan helps you ensure there is no malware on your computer.
•Quick scan—uses the same technology as full scan but only focuses on the files where malware is likely to hide. It is useful when you need just a quick check of your computer.
•Custom scan—You can choose specific file locations and modify other scan settings.
8.Select whether to enable the detection of potentially unwanted applications. If you have selected the Custom scan, you can adjust the Advanced settings:
•Detect suspicious applications—Suspicious applications include programs compressed with packers or protectors. Malware authors often exploit these protectors to evade detection.
•Detect potentially unsafe applications—Potentially unsafe applications are legitimate (often commercial) tools, such as remote administration or password-cracking tools, that can be exploited for malicious purposes.
•Scan archives—Archives may also contain detections that do not pose a direct risk.
9.Click Start scan. After the detection module updates are downloaded, the scan starts. The progress bar shows the scan progress, along with the path and title of the scanned file. You can pause or cancel the scan at any time.
10. When the scan finishes, you can click Save scan log to review the results later. If detections were found, click View detailed results. You can also restore the quarantined files. Click Continue.
11. You can enable the Periodic scanning and Change the periodic scan schedule. Click Continue.
12. In the Thank you for using ESET Online Scanner screen, you can rate the application and leave feedback:
•You can select the Delete application data on closing check box to uninstall ESET Online Scanner from your system.
•Click Continue if you rated the application, or click Close without feedback.
13. If you clicked Continue, feel free to leave a message for your feedback.
•Click Tell us more about your thoughts on ESET in a short survey, redirecting you to the survey.
•Click Submit and close.
14. In the Your scan results in your inbox screen, you can type your email address to receive the scan results. Click Submit to send the scan results to your email, or click Close application to finish working with ESET Online Scanner.
