Windows GUI - Mode Installation

For full functionality and to leverage all available features, you must install the EEI Agent on each machine where you want to collect event logs.

Ensure that you have met the System Requirements needed for the successful installation of the EEI Agent.

1.Execute the downloaded installer file eei_agent_nt32_ENU.msi or eei_agent_nt64_ENU.msi, depending on the system.

2.Accept the license agreement and then click Next.

3.Choose the destination directory where you want EEI Agent to be installed and then click Next.

4.If you need to change the default connection settings to EEI Agent:

oType in the proper values into the following fields: EEI Server host, EEI Server port.

oChoose whether you want to use Server assisted installation or Offline installation.

5.Click Next.

Important

The EEI Agent needs the same certificate authority that was used to sign a certificate for EEI Server. You can provide it in one of the methods below:

Server assisted installation

Certificate authority on local disk

Certificate authority installed in Windows Certificate Store

5.In the case of Server assisted installation, the dialog box with certification details appears. Click Yes to accept the Certification Authority for EEI Agent.

6.In the Offline installation, fill the path to the Certification Authority or click the Change button and navigate to it. Click Next.

7.Click Install. A progress bar appears, displaying the current status.

8.If no problems occur, the next screen displays, click Finish, and your application is ready to use.

9.If there was a problem with the installation, follow the instructions in the dialog box that appears.

Important

You need to activate EEI Agent with an "Enterprise Inspector" license or "Enterprise Inspector and Endpoint Security" license. You can do it via ESET PROTECT by creating a “Product activation” task.

To do this, please contact your ESET PROTECT Administrator or create a Product Activation task.

Note

The agent will be visible in EEI Web Console immediately after activation. In a few minutes, you should be able to view the first events sent by agents. Enterprise Inspector Server and Enterprise Inspector Agent write error logs into folder C:\ProgramData\ESET\EnterpriseInspector\Agent\logs. If you experience any other issues, follow the instructions on gathering debug data as detailed in Troubleshooting the installation topic.
