Installation
The ESET Endpoint Encryption Server (EEE Server) can be installed on any Windows 10 or later computer, including 'non-server' versions. The EEE Server should be installed in a backed-up location to avoid potential data loss. Use the downloaded installer to launch the Installation Wizard.
Configuration during installation
Before you use the EEE Server, you must configure it mainly during the MSI installation.
You will need to supply the following:
•internet proxy settings (if they are required to access the internet)
•SQL Server details (name, username, password, database name if the default instance is not required)
•EEE Server details (organization name, admin name, admin password)
•EEE Server Proxy ID
The EEE client MSi (the latest release from website) is included in the All-in-one package.
Review the Minimum system requirements.
Host your EEE Server in a Virtual Machine Many of our customers prefer the convenience of using a Virtual Machine environment to host their EEE Server. Due to the low system requirements and resource usage of the EEE Server, it is an ideal candidate for a VM environment. Due to the design of the communications between the EEE Server and the Workstation via the EEE cloud proxy, the EEE server does not need to be on, only when you need to use it to perform commands. This applies to the EEE Server in general and not specifically when used in a virtual environment. |
Backup Hosting the EEE Server as a Virtual Machine makes backup and migration simple file copy operations. Making copies of the entire guest environment means there is no need to install and configure the software again should the machine move to a new host. In the case of VirtualBox/VMWare, this means ensuring the virtual machine has been shut down and powered off, the virtual machine interface closed, then taking a copy of the complete folder containing the virtual machine files. When the machine is restored or powered on at a new host, it is important that if prompted, whether you copied or moved the machine, you select the moved option to avoid the need to reactivate the operating system. |
