Migration scenarios

Migration scenarios for migrating to ESET Cloud Administrator.

In this section we will review migration scenarios for transitioning from other ESET products to ESET Cloud Administrator. Click the link below that best describes your scenario.

1.I have unmanaged ESET Endpoint security products in my network and I want to start managing them with ECA.

2.I have ESET Home security products in my network and I want to manage my network with ECA.

3.I currently manage my network with ERA 5 / ERA 6 / ESMC 7 and I want to switch to ECA.

Before any migration, decrypt all workstations encrypted with ESET Dull Disk Encryption. You can encrypt them once the migration is finished.

I have unmanaged ESET Endpoint products in my network and I want to start managing them with ECA.

note

Note

It is not possible to upgrade version 4.5 or earlier ESET server products with ECA Live Installer. You must have ESET version 6 or later products installed to upgrade to ECA.

Follow the steps below to find and add unmanaged products in ECA:

1.Create your ECA instance.

2.Create a new Installer and select the product to install based on which Endpoint products are currently present in your network.

3.Policy and group settings for clients can be defined in the installer. If no policy is selected as a part of the installer and no policy is applied to any group in ECA, the current configuration of your Endpoint products will not be overwritten and can later be exported and converted into a policy.

4.Deploy the installers to your network. ECA Live Installer will install  ESET Management Agent, and upgrade your existing Endpoint products.

note

Note

ECA Live Installer requires a direct internet connection to download the required components. After the installation is complete, you can switch the connection to be forwarded via proxy.

5.After the installation is completed successfully and the devices are connecting to ECA, you can start managing them with your ESET Cloud Administrator.

6.If no policy was part of the installer or applied to any group in ECA, you can now export the configuration of your Endpoint Products.

7. To do so, navigate to Tasks and create a new Export managed product configuration settings Task.

8.In the Settings part select Product: All and as a Target select all devices from which you want to export the configuration.

9.Wait until the task is executed on all selected devices.

10.Navigate to the specific device's Computer Details > Configuration and open specific Endpoint product configuration.

11.Here you can review the exported settings and if you are satisfied, select Convert to Policy.

12.Policy wizard will open ,in which you can edit the Name for the policy review and adjust some of the settings if required and click Finish to save it.

13.Repeat this procedure for each Endpoint product.

14.After all products configurations are converted you can now continue by applying the policy to the respective client devices so the setting will be locked and the user of the device will not be able to change them.

I have ESET Consumers products in my network and I want to manage my network with ECA.

Follow the steps below to replace your ESET Home security products with ESET business security products on the devices in your network and start managing these devices with ESET Cloud Administrator :

1.Create your ECA instance.

2.Create a new Installer and select the product to install based on which ESET home security products are currently present in your network.

3.If no policy is selected as a part of the installer, and no policy is applied to any group in ECA, the current configuration of your Home Security products will not be overwritten and can be later exported and converted into a policy (This only applies to the settings that are present in the ESET Endpoint security product policy).

4.Deploy the installers in your network. ECA Live Installer will install ESET Management Agent and upgrade your already ESET Home Security products.

ECA Live Installer requires a direct internet connection to download the required components. After the installation is complete, you can switch the connection to be forwarded via proxy.

5.After the installation is completed successfully and the devices are connecting to ECA, you can start managing them with your ESET Cloud Administrator.

I have my network managed with ERA v5 / ERA v6 / ESMC v7 and I want to switch to ECA.

note

Note

It is not possible to migrate database from ERA v5 / ERA v6 / ESMC v7 server to ECA.

It is not possible to export any data from ERA v5 / ERA v6 / ESMC v7 and import them into ECA.

It is not possible to upgrade ESET server products version 4.5 with ECA Live Installer. Supported upgrade scenario is only for ESET server and desktop products version 6 and above.

Follow the steps below to switch from ERA v5 / ERA v6 / ESMC v7 to ECA:

1.Create your ECA instance.

2.Create a new Installer and select the product to install based on which Endpoint products are currently present in your network.

3.If no policy is selected as a part of the installer and no policy is applied to any group in ECA, the current configuration of your Endpoint products will not be overwritten and can be later exported and converted into a policy (This only applies to the settings that are present in the ESET Endpoint security product policy).

4.Deploy the installers in your network. ECA Live Installer will upgrade/repair your existing Agents and Endpoint products.

15.Once you verify that all computers from your ERA v5 / ERA v6 / ESMC v7 are now correctly managed by ECA you can uninstall ERA v5 / ERA v6 / ESMC v7.
