Hardware requirements

Hardware requirements depend on the server role. The following minimum hardware requirements are required for installation:

•Processor Intel/AMD x64 with 2 cores

•2GB of RAM

•700MB of free hard disk space

•Glibc 2.28 or later

•Linux OS kernel versions 4.18 and later

•Any UTF-8 encoding locale


Supported operating systems

ESET Server Security for Linux (ESSL) has been tested and is supported on the latest minor releases of listed operating systems. Update your operating system before installing ESSL.

ESSL should work on the most recent and frequently used open-source Linux distributions if the hardware requirements listed above are met, and software dependencies are not missing in the Linux distribution used.

Note

SELinux and AppArmor are supported on the distributions where they are present by default. ESET Server Security for Linux runs under the default context obtained from the system.


Important

The latest Linux kernel for Ubuntu Server 22.04 requires gcc-12 for kernel modules compilation. See our Knowledgebase article for more information on this issue.


Note

Linux distributions with ELREPO kernel and cloud kernels are not supported.

RHEL with the "Protection Profile for General Purpose Operating Systems (OSPP)" is not supported.

Supported browsers

ESSL Web interface works only in the desktop versions of following browsers:

•Google Chrome

•Mozilla Firefox

•Microsoft Edge

•Safari

If you experience display issues in ESSL Web interface, ensure that you use the latest version of the browsers listed above.

1 s3fs communicates over HTTP, which may trigger Web access protection (WAP) instead of Real-time file system protection (RTP). This can cause infected files to be blocked by WAP instead of RTP, and files are not cleaned. Therefore, s3fs is excluded from WAP by default.
