Migration from ERA 5.x

If you want to upgrade/migrate from an older generation of ERA 5 to ESET Security Management Center 7 you can use one of the following standalone ESET applications:

Migration Assistant - Intended for small to medium-sized businesses. The purpose of Migration Assistant is to install ESET Security Management Center 7.0, check your configuration, migrate data from ERA Server 5.x, and then turn off ERA 5.x.

Migration Tool - Helps you migrate ERA 5.x data into an intermediate database which allows for the data to be imported into ESMC 7.x.

Both the Migration Assistant  and Migration Tool are only supported on computers with Microsoft Windows operating systems.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

1.The structure of Static Groups is preserved. However, Static Groups synchronized from Active Directory are ignored and will not be migrated.

2.If you are not familiar with the individual policies set in your ERA 5.x, you can choose to create new policies, rather than migrate them to ESMC 7. If you migrate the polices, note the following:

Only policy definitions are migrated, policy relations are not.

You must assign migrated policies to appropriate groups manually after migration.

Hierarchy of policies is omitted. Override flags will be converted to force flags in the ESMC 7 policy for the same setting.

If there are settings for multiple products in a single policy in old ERA, an individual policy for each product will be created in ESMC 7.

3.HTTP Proxy settings are deleted from Policies and the Proxy installed with the new ESMC Server is set as a default Proxy.

4.The migrated logs include these log categories: Threat logs, Scan logs, Firewall logs, Device Control logs, Web Control logs, Event logs.

5.It is not possible to transfer tasks and parametric groups from ERA 5.x, because of the new design and functions of dynamic groups in ESMC 7 (introduced in ERA 6.x).

6.Migration of ERA 5.x servers in a server tree structure is not supported.

7.Both Migration Assistant and Migration Tool first need to run on the computer where ERA Server 5.x is installed. You can then continue with migration based on where the ESMC Server 7.x will be installed: either on the same computer where ERA 5.x was installed, or on another computer.
