Web Console installation


You can install the ESMC Web Console on a different computer than the computer where the ESMC Server is installed.

To install the ESMC Web Console component on Windows, follow the steps below:

1.Visit the ESET Security Management Center download section to download a standalone installer for ESMC components.

2.Make sure the following prerequisites are installed:

ESMC Server.

Starting January 2019, Oracle JAVA SE 8 public updates for business, commercial or production use will require a commercial license. If you do not purchase a JAVA SE subscription, you can use this guide to transition to a no-cost alternative.

Apache Tomcat:

a)Download the latest supported version of the Apache Tomcat installer file (32-bit/64-bit Windows Service Installer) apache-tomcat-[version].exe from https://tomcat.apache.org.

b)Run the installer.

c)During the installation, select the path to Java (parent folder of Java bin and lib folders).

d)After the installation, make sure that Apache Tomcat service startup type is set to Automatic (in services.msc).

If you have multiple Java versions installed on your system, we recommend that you uninstall older Java versions and keep only the latest Java.

Make sure that Java, ESMC, and Apache Tomcat have the same bitness (32-bit or 64-bit).

Web Console file (era.war) saved to your local hard drive.

3.Copy era.war to the Apache Tomcat web applications folder:

C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\[ Tomcat folder ]\webapps\

4.Allow a few minutes for file extraction and ESMC Web Console installation.

If you installed ESMC Web Console on a different computer than ESMC Server, perform these additional steps to enable communication between ESMC Web Console and ESMC Server:

I.Stop the Apache Tomcat service. Navigate to Start  > Apache Tomcat > Configure Tomcat and click Stop.

II.Run Notepad as an Administrator and edit the C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\[ Tomcat folder ]\webapps\era\WEB-INF\classes\sk\eset\era\g2webconsole\server\modules\config\EraWebServerConfig.properties .

III.Find the server_address=localhost.

IV.Replace localhost with the IP address of your ESMC Server and save the file.

5.Restart the Apache Tomcat service. Start > Apache Tomcat > Configure Tomcat. Click Stop, wait for 30 seconds and then click Start.

6.Open ESMC Web Console in your browser: http://localhost:8080/era/, a login screen will be displayed.


HTTP port, by default 8080, is set during manual Apache Tomcat installation. You can also set up HTTPS connection for Apache Tomcat.
