SMTP Settings

In ESA, an SMTP server is used for:

Provisioning: Configured in Settings > Delivery Options.

Sending notifications: Configured in Settings > Notifications.

Settings

Server—The hostname or IP address of your on-premises SMTP server. Text field, for example, smtp.company.com.

Port number—The port used by your SMTP server. Common ports include 25 (unencrypted), 587 (TLS), and 465 (SSL).

SSL/TLS—Select the encryption method for securing the connection:

None—No encryption (not recommended for security reasons).

Auto—Automatically use encryption if available; otherwise, no encryption (recommended for most users).

SSL on connect—Require encryption from the start; connection fails if not supported.

Start TLS—Require upgrading to TLS; connection fails if not supported.

Start TLS when available—Use TLS if supported; otherwise, there is no encryption.

Login—The username or email address for SMTP authentication. Text field, for example, your.email@company.com.

Password—The password for the above login. Masked password field.

Sender Email Address—The email address appearing as the sender in outgoing emails. Text field.
