Upgrade installation

In ESET Secure Authentication version 2.5.X and later, you can upgrade ESA by launching the installer. There is no need to manually uninstall the previous version.

Upgrade Order

You must upgrade the Authentication Server first and then upgrade other components on computers secured by ESA to maintain compatibility.

If you have multiple Authentication Servers (possible only in Active Directory environment), upgrade all of them. When upgrading one of them, the other ones must be stopped in order to maintain data compatibility.

1.Review the license agreement and privacy policy, click I accept to continue.

3.When all prerequisites are satisfied, click Next .

4.Complete the upgrade as prompted by the installer. Close the installer when you are finished.

When the upgrade is finished, a shortcut labeled as ESA Web Console will be automatically created on the desktop of your Windows OS. Double click the shortcut to open the Web Console.

ESA Web Console certificate

ESA Web Console uses a self-signed certificate. Accessing the Web Console from a machine different from the machine hosting the Authentication Server will result in a certificate issue message.

Accessing the Web Console via Mozilla Firefox from the machine hosting the Authentication Server will result in a certificate issue message.

Use the login credentials configured during upgrade to enter the Web Console. In the Dasbhoard the Components tile shows the number of outdated components, meaning, computers using a particular component of older version then the version of Authentication Server. Click the number in Out of date column to see related computers. Use the installer of same version as of Authentication Server to upgrade ESA Components (Windows Login, Remote Desktop Protection, IIS, ADFS, RADIUS) on related computers.
