Override mode
You can enable the Override mode only remotely from the ESET PROTECT Web Console. Override mode enables users on the client-computer level to change settings in the installed ESET product, even if there is a policy applied over these settings. Override mode can be enabled for certain AD users, or it can be password-protected. The function cannot be enabled for more than four hours at once.
If you have ESET PROTECT policy applied to ESET Mail Security, you will see a lock instead of enable/disable switch on Setup page and a lock icon next to the switch in Advanced setup window.
Override mode cannot be stopped from the ESET PROTECT Web Console when enabled. Override mode will be disabled automatically when the override time period expires. It can also be turned off on the client machine. The user who is using the Override mode needs to have Windows admin rights too. Otherwise, the user cannot save the ESET Mail Security changes in settings. Active Directory group authentication is supported. |
1.Log into ESET PROTECT Web Console, navigate to Policies, select and edit existing policy that is applied to ESET Mail Security or create a new one.
2.In Settings section, select ESET Mail Security.
3.Click Override Mode, enable it and configure the rest of its settings including Authentication type (Active directory user or Password).
When accessing override mode, the ESET security product creates a settings snapshot. If Revert local changes after override is enabled, the settings snapshot is reverted, and the changes created by the local administrator are revoked. When the Revert local changes after override is disabled, the policies applied from the ESET PROTECT Web Console are evaluated with higher priority and will override the local changes. |
4.In the Assign section, select the computer or group of computers on which this policy will be applied.
5.Review the settings in the Summary section and click Finish to apply the policy.
6.Do not forget to remove the override policy when it is no longer needed.
