ESET Server Security – Table of Contents

Product updates

This section contains options related to the product updates. The program enables you to predefine its behavior when new product updates are available.

Product updates bring new features or make changes to those that already exist from previous versions. It can be performed automatically without user intervention, or you can choose to be notified. After a product update has been installed, a computer restart may be required.

Auto-updates

Enabled by default. Use the slider to disable auto-updates if you need to stop the ESET Server Security from being updated temporarily. We recommend that you keep this setting enabled to ensure your ESET Server Security has the latest Program Component Updates (PCU), and micro Program Component Updates (μPCU) applied when a new update is available.

Note

The updates are applied after the next server restart.

Update timing

This feature allows you to deploy updates in gradual and immediate phases. You can choose either approach or combine them within your infrastructure. By combining both methods, you can test the latest updates on a smaller group of devices and halt deployment across the rest of your infrastructure if issues arise.

Gradual Updates (Default)

Select this option to prioritize stability by allowing ESET to determine the optimal time for installing product updates. Gradual updates help mitigate potential issues that may be discovered in the first weeks after a release.

Immediate Updates

Select this option for rapid deployment immediately after an update is released. The update will be installed as soon as it becomes available on ESET servers. Enabling Immediate Updates on a smaller group of devices allows you to test the new version before rolling it out company-wide. If issues arise, deployment to the remaining infrastructure can be paused.

By default, product updates are downloaded from ESET repository servers. In large or offline environments, the traffic can be distributed to allow internal caching of the product files.
