Module and Product Updates
Module Updates
Update types
•Regular update. This is the default update type, it ensures the detection signature database and product modules are updated automatically from ESET update servers.
•Pre-release updates include the most recent bug fixes and detection methods before they are available to the general public. However, they might not always be stable; therefore, using them in a production environment is not recommended.
•Delayed updates allow updating from special update servers that provide new versions of virus databases with a delay of at least X hours (databases tested in a real environment and considered stable).
Module rollback
If you suspect a new detection engine update or program module may be unstable or corrupt, you can revert to the previous version and temporarily disable updates.
Create snapshots of modules
ESET Endpoint Security records detection engine and program module snapshots for the rollback feature. To create module database snapshots, keep Create snapshots of modules enabled. When Create snapshots of modules is enabled, the first snapshot is created during the first update. The next one is created after 48 hours. The Number of locally stored snapshotsfield defines the amount of stored detection engine snapshots.
When the maximum amount of snapshots is reached (for example, three), the oldest snapshot is replaced with a new one every 48 hours. ESET Endpoint Security for macOS rolls back detection engine and program module update versions to the oldest snapshot. |
Product Updates
Product updates ensure that you are always using the latest product version. Enable the Auto-Updates toggle to have product updates installed automatically on the next restart and maintain constant access to the latest features and protection.
Primary Server and Secondary Server
The option to automatically choose primary and secondary update servers is enabled by default. Both servers can be specified when the toggle to choose automatically is disabled.
