Network Profiles
Network profiles allow you to set the trust level for networks recognized by your firewall. We recommend assigning the trusted status to networks that you know are secure and reliable. When the computer is connecting to a new network a dialog window is shown where you can set the network type as either Private or Public. If the dialog window is ignored, the more secure choice is made marking the network as public.
To setup network connection profiles and apply firewall rules to specific categories of network connections, follow the network access protection topic. Network connection profiles setup is only available for endpoints managed remotely. |
Network types
Private
Private networks are considered trustworthy. Inbound connections from trusted (private) networks could be allowed by special firewall rules.
Public or Guest
Public networks are those where you are a guest and these may not be trustworthy. Firewall rules are stricter for these types of networks.
Adding a network to network profiles is possible only by first connection to network detected by ESET Endpoint Security firewall. The dialog window with network options does not show up when connecting to networks already stored in network profiles. Additionally, this dialog window does not appear when using remotely managed version of ESET Endpoint Security. |
