ESET Endpoint Encryption internet access

ESET Endpoint Encryption Server and Client software can require access to the EEE website. When you have any issues with activation/commands, check that you have access to the following websites:

Cloud

The workstations are managed by ESET Endpoint Encryption Server, communications between the ESET Endpoint Encryption Server and its managed Workstations are provided by the ESET Endpoint Encryption Cloud. Commands are sent from the ESET Endpoint Encryption Server to the Cloud, where they wait for the Workstations to collect them when they check with the Cloud periodically. Similarly, responses from the Workstations detailing command completion are stored in the Cloud for the ESET Endpoint Encryption Server to pick up.

All communication packets are encrypted before being uploaded to the ESET Endpoint Encryption Cloud.

Using the ESET Endpoint Encryption Cloud means the machines involved only need access to the internet to be managed; this removes the extra effort of configuring firewalls and ports if the clients had to connect directly. It also has the advantage that if the ESET Endpoint Encryption Server workstations are offline at any point, they will catch up with messages from the Cloud when they are next online.

For the ESET Endpoint Encryption Server workstations to communicate with the ESET Endpoint Encryption Cloud they should be provided access to the following address: stratus.deslock.com

If you want to manually verify communications from a workstation to the ESET Endpoint Encryption Cloud are working correctly, you can visit the URL above using Microsoft Edge, where a landing page should be displayed. It is important to use Microsoft Edge for this check to be valid.

Local Proxy

There is a special build of the ESET Endpoint Encryption Server that allows the hosting of ESET Endpoint Encryption Cloud in-house alongside your ESET Endpoint Encryption Server. This allows workstations to communicate directly with their ESET Endpoint Encryption Server without reaching the internet/ESET Endpoint Encryption Cloud. Only customers with very specific requirements use this. Even with the Local Proxy being used, internet access will be required by the ESET Endpoint Encryption Server host machine for license operations (as detailed in Managed licensing). If you require a Local Proxy build of the ESET Endpoint Encryption Server, contact support detailing your requirement for further assistance.

ESET Endpoint Encryption Server Update

If enabled, the ESET Endpoint Encryption Server will check update.deslock.com to display notifications of new ESET Endpoint Encryption Server releases becoming available.

Client Software Update

To update the client software, access is required to the following sites:

Check availability of client software updates: update.deslock.com

Download client software updates: download.deslock.com

Standalone Licensing

For standalone clients who are not managed by ESET Endpoint Encryption Server, performing initial activation or renewing/upgrading a license with the License Wizard will require access to the website: licensing.deslock.com

ESET Endpoint Encryption Server Managed Licensing

When performing license operations in the ESET Endpoint Encryption Server, such as resyncing licenses or generating a new user´s first activation code, access to the following website will be required from the machine hosting the ESET Endpoint Encryption Server: licensing.deslock.com
