Performance Exclusions

In the Performance Exclusions section, you can exclude certain files and folders, applications or IP/IPv6 addresses from scanning. By excluding paths (folders) from being scanned, the time needed to scan the file system for malware can be significantly decreased.

plus—Creates a new exclusion. Use drag-and-drop to add a new exclusion, or enter the path to an object or folder (example:/Users/username/Downloads)

minus—Removes selected entries

warning

You should only exclude files from scanning when experiencing serious problems with real-time protection because excluding files from scanning decreases overall protection. When file-level scanning of some email servers, backup software or similar is causing abnormal system behavior, adding files to the performance exclusion list can help solve this.
