Hardware requirements

ESET Bridge is based on Nginx—see Nginx hardware specifications.

See also ESET PROTECT On-Prem hardware and infrastructure sizing.

Supported operating systems

You can install ESET Bridge on these operating systems:

Windows

Windows Server 2012 R2/2016/2019/2022

Windows 10/11—ESET Bridge installation on a desktop operating system might not be in alignment with Microsoft licensing policy. Check the Microsoft licensing policy or consult your software supplier for details. In SMB and small network environments, we encourage you to consider a Linux installation or ESET PROTECT Virtual Appliance where applicable.

Linux

Ubuntu—16, 18, 20, 22, 24

CentOS—7 (including the earlier ESET PROTECT Virtual Appliance), 8

Important

CentOS 8 reached its End of Life in December 2021, and CentOS 7 reached its End of Life in June 2024. The affected systems require a migration.

RHEL—7, 8, 9

Rocky Linux—9 (including the new ESET PROTECT VA)

Supported ESET products

Supported ESET management consoles

ESET PROTECT Server 10.0 and later and the cloud ESET PROTECT

Warning

ESET PROTECT users with ESET Vulnerability & Patch Management

ESET Bridge does not affect vulnerability reporting.

ESET Bridge blocks the Patch Management network traffic when Vulnerability & Patch Management is disabled.

When you apply the Vulnerability & Patch Management Policy on managed computers and the computer running ESET Bridge, ESET Bridge (version 3 and later) automatically allows the Patch Management network traffic by disabling the Access Control List (ACL) rules. ESET Bridge becomes an open proxy that allows the routing of all network traffic:

ESET PROTECT Web Console will display the Access restrictions are disabled alert in computer details. You can hide the alert by disabling Report open proxy in the ESET Bridge Policy > Reporting.

We recommend setting up proxy authentication to improve network security.

ESET Inspect—The ESET Bridge default configuration supports the cloud ESET Inspect. You can configure ESET Bridge to support ESET Inspect On-Prem.

Supported ESET security products

HTTP proxy—All ESET security products that can use a proxy to download updates.

HTTPS traffic caching—ESET Bridge can decrypt and cache HTTPS traffic:

oUpdate requests (modules, repository) from a supported ESET security product:

Supported ESET security product (HTTPS traffic caching)

Supported product version

ESET Endpoint Antivirus/Security for Windows

10 and later

oESET LiveGuard Advanced traffic for ESET PROTECT On-Prem and the supported ESET security products listed above.

Important

HTTPS traffic caching limitations

ESET Bridge does not support HTTPS traffic caching for unlisted ESET security products (earlier ESET Endpoint for Windows, Windows Server/Linux/macOS security products).

ESET PROTECT On-Prem supports HTTP/HTTPS traffic caching.

The cloud-based ESET PROTECT does not support HTTPS traffic caching—the required certificates are available in ESET PROTECT On-Prem, but not in the cloud-based ESET PROTECT.

ESET Bridge and the cloud-based ESET PROTECT support HTTP traffic caching for all ESET security products.
