Automatically assign Custom Service to devices

Instead of manually selecting managed devices, you can create a filter to group specific managed devices and apply the Custom Service (monitoring) rule with a self-healing action.

Create a custom filter

1.Click Configuration > Filters.

2.Click the Add button.

3.Type a Filter Name and Description (optional) for your new filter (for example, Client devices).

4.To create a search filter, click the desired option in the Find devices where drop-down menu and click the Add button. NOTE: (Optional) Click the Add button again to add another set of filter conditions.

5.When configured, click Save.

Create a custom rule

example

Combining a rule with a filter

Prerequisites:

1.Custom Service—Installation will install (and activate) ESET security products on your managed devices when the monitoring meets the condition {ESET Product Not Detected} = true.

2.You have created a filter for your managed devices.

Execution:

Link the two so the Custom Service with self-healing action is automatically applied to your filtered devices when the monitoring is triggered (instead of selecting the target devices/device groups).

1.Click Configuration > Monitoring > Rules.

2.Click the Add button.

2.Type a Name and Description (optional) for your new rule (for example, Client devices rule)

3.In the Devices to Target tab, select the custom filter you created previously and use the available arrows to move it to Selected Filters.

4.In the Monitoring Options tab, Service Templates section, click the Custom Service you created previously and use the available arrows to move it to Selected Service Templates.

Immediate execution

When you click Save, N-able N-central will immediately apply the filter and the rule to the filtered managed devices. Ensure you are ready for the Custom Services (some with a self-healing action) to be executed before clicking Save.

5.Click Save.
