Upgrade Password Manager to a more recent version
Important Upgrading the ESET Password Manager application (Android and iOS) to a more recent version does not migrate your passwords and data from the previous version. We recommend that you upgrade Password Manager using one of the ESET browser extensions. |
Important You cannot install Password Manager version 3 as a standalone Windows application. |
Password Manager version 2 is not supported. A new version is available. To upgrade Password Manager to the latest version (for mobile devices or extensions):
1.Back up your data and export your data from Password Manager version 2.
Important When exporting your data from Password Manager version 2, select ESET Password Manager XML. In Password Manager version 3, the .spdb format is no longer supported. For more information, see Supported import formats. |
Note If you did not export your data from Password Manager version 2 and want to regain access to your data from the previous version of Password Manager, see How to export your data from Password Manager version 2. |
2.Download an extension and install a new Password Manager extension for your specific web browser.
3.Log in with your current credentials. If you accidentally select the check box next to Remember me, log out of your ESET Password Manager. For the next login, this check box will be clear.
4.For security reasons, you must change the Master Password.
5.Copy or download the Recovery Key to a location that you can easily remember. A 24-digit Recovery Key is needed to regain access to the account.
Warning Due to the type of data stored in the ESET Password Manager, we strongly recommend storing the Recovery Key in a secure place - an encrypted folder or a vault. Recovery Key enables you to recover your data if you forget your Master Password. |
Passwords and data is migrated from the previous version 2 to the new Password Manager version 3. See the data categories below.
Note If you want to import data exported from the previous version of Password Manager, click Menu > Settings > Data > Import data. Select Password Manager V2 from the drop-down menu and then type the Master Password. For more information, read the following ESET Knowledgebase article. |
