Install Web Console manually

Important

Manual installation of ESMC Web Console is an advanced procedure. We recommend that you can install the ESMC Web Console using the All-in-one installer.

Follow the steps below to manually install the ESMC Web Console component on Windows:

1.Make sure the following prerequisites are met:

ESMC Server is installed.

Note

You can install the ESMC Web Console on a different computer than the computer where the ESMC Server is installed. This requires additional steps.

Apache Tomcat is a mandatory component required to run the ESMC Web Console. Apache Tomcat requires Java/OpenJDK.

Important

64-bit Java is required.

If you have multiple Java versions installed on your system, we recommend that you uninstall older Java versions (the oldest supported version is Java 8) and keep only the latest version of Java.

Starting January 2019, Oracle JAVA SE 8 public updates for business, commercial or production use require a commercial license. If you do not purchase a JAVA SE subscription, you can use this guide to transition to a no-cost alternative and install one of listed supported Java editions.

a)Download the latest supported version of the Apache Tomcat installer file (32-bit/64-bit Windows Service Installer) apache-tomcat-[version].exe from https://tomcat.apache.org.

b)Run the installer.

c)During the installation, select the path to Java (parent folder of Java bin and lib folders).

d)After the installation, make sure that the Apache Tomcat service startup type is set to Automatic (in services.msc).

2.Visit the ESET Security Management Center download section to download a standalone installer for this ESMC component (Web Console file era.war).

3.Copy era.war to the Apache Tomcat web applications folder:

C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\[ Tomcat folder ]\webapps\

4.Allow a few minutes for file extraction and ESMC Web Console installation.

5.Continue with the next steps applicable for you:

If you installed the ESMC Web Console on the same computer as the ESMC Server:

a)Restart the Apache Tomcat service. Navigate to Start  > Services > right-click the Apache Tomcat service and select Stop. Wait for 30 seconds and then click Start.

b)Open the ESMC Web Console in a supported web browser: http://localhost:8080/era/; a login screen will be displayed.

Note

The default HTTP port is set to 8080 during the Apache Tomcat installation. You can also set up an HTTPS connection for Apache Tomcat.

If you installed the ESMC Web Console on a different computer than the ESMC Server, perform these additional steps to enable communication between ESMC Web Console and ESMC Server:

a)Stop the Apache Tomcat service: Navigate to Start  > Services > right-click the Apache Tomcat service and select Stop.

b)Run Notepad as an Administrator and edit the C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\[ Tomcat folder ]\webapps\era\WEB-INF\classes\sk\eset\era\g2webconsole\server\modules\config\EraWebServerConfig.properties.

c)Find the server_address=localhost.

d)Replace localhost with the IP address of your ESMC Server and save the file.

e) Start the Apache Tomcat service: Navigate to Start > Services > right-click the Apache Tomcat service and select Start.

f)Open the ESMC Web Console in a supported web browser: https://Server-IP/era/ (substitute Server-IP with the IP address of your ESMC Server); a login screen will be displayed.
