Using the Startup Wizard

When you log into the Web Console for the first time, a Startup Wizard for ESET Security Management Center will appear. This wizard will give a basic explanation of important ESMC Web Console sections, ESET Management Agent and ESET security products. You will read about Computers, Groups, Client Tasks, Policies and ESET Management Agent.

The last step of the Startup Wizard called Deployment will help you Create all-in-one installer package (containing ESET Management Agent and ESET security product).

The installer package comes as an .exe file and is valid for Windows only.

If you do not want to use the wizard, click Close Startup Wizard. ESMC Web Console will open. The wizard will not show up the next time you log into the ESMC Web Console. You can view the Startup wizard again by clicking information Help > Startup Wizard.

Use of the Wizard is not required, you can Create all-in-one Agent installer by clicking Other Deployment Options in the Quick Links section.

If you want to create an installer package, your user account must have the Agent Deployment permission assigned. If a user account does not have this permission, the Startup Wizard will be displayed without the Deployment step and the user will not have the option to create an installer package.

Follow the steps below to create an installer package:

1.Language - select a language for the installer from the drop-down list of supported languages.

2.Product - select an ESET security product installation file from the list. If you choose version 6.3 or older, automatic product activation will not work, you'll have to activate the product later. ESET security version 6.4 or newer will be automatically activated during the installation.

If you do not see any product installation files, make sure you have repository set to AUTOSELECT, in the Advanced settings section of Server settings.

3.Select the check box I accept the terms of the application End User License Agreement and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. See License Management or EULA for more information.

4.Deselect the check box Participate in product improvement program if you do not agree to send crash reports and telemetry data to ESET. If the check box is left selected, telemetry data and crash reports will be sent to ESET.

5.Choose License - you can add a license using one of the methods described in License Management. If you already have existing licenses in License Management, select the license that will be used to activate the ESET security product during the installation. Adding/removing licenses is only allowed for an Administrator user whose home group is set to All and who has Write permission on licenses in the All group.

6.If you select the Advanced check box, you will be able to choose an Agent certificate and enter Certificate passphrase if needed. For example if you've specified the passphrase during the installation of your ESMC, or if you are using Custom certificate with a passphrase. Otherwise, leave the Certificate passphrase field blank.

The certificate passphrase must not contain the following characters: " \ These characters cause critical errors during the initialization of the Agent.

7.Click Create Installer, all-in-one installation package files will be generated for 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. Click the desired version to start downloading it. Once the download completes you will be prompted to specify location where to store the file (for example ESMC_Installer_x86_en_US.exe or ESMC_Installer_x64_en_US.exe), click Save file.

8.Run the all-in-one installation package file on a client computer. For step-by-step instructions, see All-in-one Agent setup wizard.

After the first login to ESMC Web Console, we recommend that you run the Operating System Update Client Task on the computer where ESET Security Management Center is installed.
