ERA VA upgrade / migration

Follow the instructions below to upgrade your existing ERA VA to the latest version, or migrate your ERA VA to a different server.

1.Download the latest version of era_appliance.ova, or if you use Microsoft Hyper -V.

2.Deploy a  new ERA VA, see ERA Appliance deployment process for instructions. Do not configure the new ERA VA via its web interface yet.

3.Pull the database from your old ERA VA, see Pull database from other server for a complete step-by-step guide.

4.Configure your new ERA Virtual Appliance via its web interface.


If you have changed the ERA Server IP address, create a policy on your old ERA VA to set a new ERA Server IP address and assign it to all computers. Wait for the policy to distribute to all ERA Agents.


Make sure that your new ERA VA behaves the same way as the previous one. All data should be preserved and all clients are connecting to the new server.

When upgrading from ERA VA 6.x to ERA VA 6.5:

After ERA VA 6.5 upgrade is completed, ERA VA may appear not functional with an error message First time appliance configuration failed. The reason is that server upgrade is taking place. You may need to wait up to 1 hour until server is fully upgraded. To avoid this, you can perform an alternative way of ERA VA upgrade: upgrade SERVER in ERA VA 6.x (via Component upgrade task) and then perform upgrade to ERA VA 6.5.
