Make ESET SSL certificate trusted

Making the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificate trusted is mandatory to filter HTTPS traffic. There are two ways to make this certificate trusted:

App Overview prompt

Once you enable Secure Transport Protocols in Application Preferences, a warning to Make ESET SSL certificate trusted is shown in the main app windows, under Overview. Clicking on the underlined words Try to set the trust state of the ESET certificate in the system keychain will open a prompt window, use Touch ID or click Use Password, type in your Password and click OK to allow the change to the system certificate trust settings.

Keychain Access

1.Open the Keychain Access application by clicking the magnifier icon in the upper right corner of the screen and typing Keychain Access into the spotlight search. You can also use cmd + space bar to access spotlight search. The direct path to the Keychain Access application is Macintosh HD > System > Library > CoreServices > Applications > Keychain Access.

2.While opening the Keychain Access application, a pop-up window might appear about managing passwords in the new Passwords App, select Open Keychain Access, and use Touch ID or click Use Password, type in your password and click OK to open the application.

3.Make sure that System is selected in the side panel, under System Keychains.

4.Right-click the ESET SSL Filter CA certificate and select Get Info.

5.Expand the Trust section in the certificate.

6.Click on the option of the first setting: When using this certificate, and in the context menu select Always Trust.

7.Pop-up window will appear to confirm the changes to the certificate, enter your system password and click Update Settings.

Note

This process is only applicable for users of macOS 15 (Sequoia) and newer.
