Local uninstallation

ESET Endpoint Security can not be completely uninstalled by dragging the ESET Endpoint Security icon to the Trash from the Applications folder. System extension will stay installed on the computer, and Uninstaller.app will not be able to remove them later.

To prevent users from uninstalling ESET Endpoint Security, we recommend adding a no modify flag to ESET Endpoint Security. To add the no modify flag, run the following command on the target computer:

sudo chflags -Rf schg /Applications/ESET\ Endpoint\ Security\.app

 

You will need to remove the no modify flag before the ESET Endpoint Security uninstallation. To remove the no modify flag, run the following command on the target computer:

sudo chflags -Rf noschg /Applications/ESET\ Endpoint\ Security\.app

To uninstall the ESET Endpoint Security:

If you manage your ESET Endpoint Security using ESET PROTECT On-Prem or ESET PROTECT you can create and run a client task to uninstall the ESET Endpoint Security remotely:

Create and run Software Uninstall task in ESET PROTECT On-Prem.

Create and run Software Uninstall task in ESET PROTECT.

1.Launch the ESET Endpoint Security Uninstaller. There are several ways to launch the ESET Endpoint Security Uninstaller:

Open the ESET Endpoint Security installation file (.dmg) and double-click Uninstaller.

Launch Finder, open the Applications folder on your hard drive, Control-click (or right-click) the ESET Endpoint Security icon > select Show Package Contents from the shortcut menu. Open the Contents> Helpers folder and double-click the Uninstaller icon.

2.Click Uninstall to start the uninstallation process. You will be prompted to type the administrator password.

If there is an issue removing the system extensions, you may be prompted to type the administrator password during the uninstallation process.

3.If you are uninstalling ESET Endpoint Security on macOS 12 Monterey, you will be prompted to allow the Uninstaller.app to manage users created by ESET Endpoint Security. The following dialog will be displayed:
"Uninstaller.app" would like to administer your computer. Administration can include modifying passwords, networking and system settings.
Click OK. If you click Don't allow, ESET Endpoint Security will not be uninstalled completely.

4.Click Close to exit the Uninstaller.

5.Restart your computer.

 


 

Uninstallation via the command line

You can uninstall ESET Endpoint Security by running the uninstallation script from the Terminal. If you installed ESET Endpoint Security to the default location, run the following command:
sudo /Applications/ESET\ Endpoint\ Antivirus.app/Contents/Helpers/Uninstaller.app/Contents/Scripts/uninstall.sh
