Submit a Sample

In the main application window, select Scan in the left menu, click the arrow icon to show the Submit a Sample option.

This option allows you to select a suspiciously behaving file found on your computer or a suspicious site found online, and send it to the ESET Research Lab for analysis.

Click Send to specify the file you want to send for analysis. First, choose a reason for submission, and then select the file. You can manually drag and drop the file or folder by clicking the file or folder, moving the mouse pointer to the marked area while pressing the mouse button, and then releasing it. There is an option to include your email, which allows us to contact you in case we need more information. You do not have to include your email if you enable the Submit anonymously toggle.

The sample you submit must meet at least one of the following criteria:

•The sample is not detected by your ESET product

•The sample is incorrectly detected as a threat

Clicking Next takes you to the last step, where you provide additional information about the sample file, such as observed signs or symptoms of malware infection and file origin. Providing additional information will help our laboratories identify and process samples.
