Browser Security extension
Browser Security extension helps you evaluate search results, websites and interactions with AI services before opening potentially risky content or sharing sensitive information.
This feature is available only with the following offerings:
|
Managed environments
Administrators can configure Browser Security extension and its individual features through the policies. After the Browser Security extension is enabled, ESET Endpoint Security attempts to deploy the Browser Security extension automatically to supported browsers. If a Group Policy Object (GPO) controlling browser extensions is detected, ESET Endpoint Security notifies the administrator that Browser Security must be added to the existing GPO configuration. If no GPO is detected, the extension is installed automatically in supported browsers.
Non-managed environments
You can manage Browser Security extension settings in Advanced setup > Protections > Browser Protection > Browser Security extension. ESET Endpoint Security automatically attempts to deploy the Browser Security extension to supported browsers. If a browser extension GPO is detected, a notification is displayed indicating that the Browser security extension must be added through the organization's GPO configuration.
Supported browsers The Browser Security extension is supported on the following browsers:

Browser Security extension includes the following features:
Secure Search
Secure Search evaluates the link address in search results and marks them in the search engine as safe or unsafe. This helps you identify potentially malicious, phishing or unwanted websites before opening them. Website content is still scanned by the ESET Endpoint Security Detection engine when the website is accessed. Click the toggle icon
next to Enable Secure Search to enable the feature.
Website Security Inspector
Website Security Inspector offers another layer of protection by scanning websites for security threats and fraudulent content as soon as they load. The scanning is performed locally on your device. The information about your web activity is not shared or sent. Click the toggle icon
next to Enable Website Security Inspector to enable the feature.
AI Conversation Security
AI Conversation Security scans user prompts for potential leakage of sensitive information, such as credential patterns and AI prompt injection attempts. It also scans AI-generated scripts and URLs contained in responses and helps identify malicious, phishing or other potentially unsafe source references. AI Conversation Security checks uploaded Microsoft Purview sensitivity labels. All scanning runs automatically in the background, ensuring an uninterrupted browsing experience.
Currently, AI Conversation Security does not protect AI assistants in browser side panels, embedded assistants or chatbots integrated into other websites. |
Edit list of excluded sensitivity labels—By default, Browser Security logs when a user uploads a file with a Microsoft Purview sensitivity label to an AI assistant. Select any labels you want to exclude from logging. Users are not notified. Log entries can be viewed from the main program window of ESET Endpoint Security in Tools > Log files.
When an AI response is evaluated as problematic, a warning or alert icon appears in the corner of the flagged element (source link, script):
Warning—The response references content from a source we identified as potentially unreliable.
Alert—The response references an unsafe source or contains malicious code.
Hovering over the warning/alert icon displays an explanation of the detected issue.
Source link scanning Some AI responses that reference multiple sources include a Sources section below the response. Clicking it displays all source links. Any link identified as problematic is marked with a warning or alert icon. Hovering over the icon displays the issue explanation. |
