Important

ESET LiveGrid® must be enabled for Ransomware Shield to function properly.

Important

Always keep Ransomware Remediaton enabled. It improves Ransomware Shield protection by performing a backup on documents and eventually restoring encrypted files after detection.

Example

The following actions can help you to protect your computer against being infiltrated by ransomware:

  • To reduce the chance of your data being stolen by attackers, regularly make an external backup of all of your important data.
  • Always keep your operating system, ESET Endpoint Security and other applications you are using updated.
  • Think before you click. Never click email attachments or links from unknown sources due to the high probability of embedded malware.
  • Do not allow macros to view the content of any email attachment unless you are sure the email is from a trusted source.
  • Use a Virtual Private Network instead of browsing the internet on public Wi-Fi.
  • Never use removable media from unknown sources.
