Send an encrypted email message or attachment

1.Open Microsoft Outlook and click New Email.

2.Type in your mail and click the ESET Endpoint Encryption tab. Select one of the options listed below for your email:

Encrypt Now! encrypts the email as it is when you click the button. For example, when you click Encrypt Now! after adding an attachment, it will encrypt the attachment, and any text typed afterward will remain unencrypted.

You can enable or disable the option Encrypt On Send. When you select Encrypt on Send, it is highlighted in orange. Click Send to send the message as encrypted.

Encrypt and Send combines the functionality of both the Encrypt Now! and Encrypt on Send buttons.

3.Formatted Text window displays. Click Yes.

4.In the ESET Endpoint Encryption Key Chooser window, select Use Encryption Key or Use Password.

Select Use Encryption Key for email recipients with ESET Endpoint Encryption installed on their machine. Select one of the available encryption keys.

Select Use Password for email recipients without ESET Endpoint Encryption installed on their machine. Type and confirm the password and click OK. The password used to encrypt the email will be subject to the password policy. We recommend that you share this password with the recipient via an alternative method of communication.

5.Click Send.

The recipient can decrypt the email if they are within the same organization as the sender and share the used encryption key. Outlook can also be set up automatically decrypt all emails received, as long as the recipient has access to the used key.

If the recipient of the encrypted email is not an ESET Endpoint Encryption customer, they can decrypt the email with the free ESET Endpoint Encryption Reader.
