Web Access Protection

Web access protection monitors communication between web browsers and remote servers for compliance with HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) rules.

You can achieve web filtering by defining the port numbers for HTTP communication and URL addresses.

Web Protocols

Within the web protocols section, you can enable or disable HTTP protocol checking and define the port numbers used for HTTP communication. By default, the port numbers 80, 8080, and 3128 are predefined.

URL Address Management

This section allows you to specify HTTP addresses to block, allow or exclude from checking. Websites in the list of blocked addresses are not accessible. Websites in the list of excluded addresses are accessed without being scanned for malicious code.

To activate a list of allowed, blocked or excluded addresses, select one and enable the List active option. If you want to be notified when entering an address from the current list, enable the Notify when applying option.

You can use the special symbols * (asterisk) and ? (question mark) in any list. The asterisk substitutes any string of characters, and the question mark substitutes any symbol. Take care when specifying excluded addresses because the list should only contain trusted and safe addresses. Similarly, you should ensure that the symbols * and ? are used correctly.
