File-System Protection
Real-time file system protection protects files and objects against malicious code. Using ESET LiveGrid® technology (described in ThreatSense engine parameter setup), real-time file system protection may vary for newly created and existing files. Newly created files can be more precisely controlled.
Media to Scan
You can exclude the following media from the Real-time scanner:
•Local drives—System hard drives
•Removable media—USB media, Bluetooth devices and so on
•Network media—All mapped drives
Scan on
By default, all files are scanned during file opening and file creation. We recommend that you keep these default settings, as they provide the maximum real-time protection for your computer.
Process Exclusions
You can also exclude specific processes from scanning. To exclude a specific process, complete path to process binary needs to be specified, it is not sufficient to only use the application bundle. Wildcards are not supported. For example to exclude Safari, you can create a process exclusion with the process path: /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari
We recommend using default settings and only modifying scanning exclusions in specific cases, such as when scanning certain media significantly slows down data transfers. |
ThreatSense Parameters
These are detailed settings for the scanning engine you only change if you are an experienced user. For best protection and performance, leave the default values unchanged.
