DDoS attack

A Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack is when multiple computers make repeated requests for data to one computer or device, overwhelming its ability to process those requests efficiently, causing it to slow down or even crash in some cases.

DDoS attacks are often performed against web sites by bots acting on instructions from a Command and Control server by criminal gangs seeking to either extort money or as a form of retaliation.
