Encrypt new removable or fixed disk in ESET Endpoint Encryption

ESET Endpoint Encryption recognizes a new storage device installed on a workstation.

Solution

Support for removable media

If ESET Endpoint Encryption identifies the drive as removable (it is connected via a USB port) the drive can be used with Removable Media Encryption(RME) filter driver.

Select either File Mode or Full Disk Mode encryption.

Configure the drive to use with ESET Endpoint Encryption Go

Support for fixed media

If ESET Endpoint Encryption identifies the new drive as fixed (it is attached to the motherboard, such as HDD or SSD), there is no option offered for removable encryption modes.

Support for external disks such as Tandberg RDX devices and removable cartridges

RDX drives have multiple connectable options, which may cause them to appear as removable or fixed disks. Below is a short list of disks that are compatible with encryption:

Tandberg Data RDX QuikStor External USB 3.0

IBM RDX Removable Hard Disk Cartridge 320GB/Go
